Environment Canada says starting today, high heat and humidity is expected for the next several days in our area.
Daytime highs today (Monday) through Wednesday are expected to be 28-33 degrees, with humidex values between 36 and 42.
The agency says extreme heat can affect everyone’s health, with greater risks for older adults, young children among others.
Officials are reminding everyone to drink plenty of water, not leave kids or pets inside parked vehicles, and to watch for early signs of heat illness.
In North Bay, the city says those who need an indoor place to stay cool can access their facilities today through Thursday:
- Memorial Gardens (sections 1,3,5 and 7) from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.,
- and Transit Terminal on Oak Street from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Officials add the Gathering Place will also have watering stations available at its location on Cassells Street.
