Northern agri-food businesses returning to ‘the Royal’

The federal government is helping put the spotlight on the Northern Ontario Agri-Food sector again this year.

Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt announced a FedNor investment of $716,800 to operate the Northern Ontario Agri-Food Pavilion at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, also known as the Royal.

The funding will allow Economic Partners Sudbury East/West Nipissing to host close to 50 northern agri-food and services businesses at the annual global event.

“FedNor’s investment in the Northern Ontario Agri-Food Pavilion helps businesses in the north find new markets so they can continue to grow,” says Serré. “Supporting the success of our agri-food businesses ensures that the great products we love remain available to us, and that the rest of the world has an opportunity to discover some of the many treasures here in our region.”

FedNor says since 2015, exhibitors at the Northern Ontario Agri-Food Pavilion generated over $8 million in on-site and projected sales.

Officials add the pavilion has been a premier attraction at the Royal for over two decades and has tripled in size over the years.

The winter fair takes place Nov. 1-10, 2024 at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
