Stantec top Canadian company on TIME’s sustainable companies list

TIME magazine has listed the world’s 500 most sustainable companies of 2024 and one with operations in North Bay is tops in Canada.

Stantec, a design and delivery firm in the professional services and consulting industry, is 14 on the global list.

“We are a global leader in sustainable architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting,” reads the Stantec website. “Our professionals deliver the expertise, technology, and innovation communities need to manage aging infrastructure, demographic and population changes, the energy transition, and more.”

Some of the company’s senior mining-related executives are in North Bay.

TIME and data firm Statista compiled the sustainable list saying the companies at the top have signed on to some of the most respected climate programs.

The methodology also looked at emissions and energy consumption.

Schneider Electric, an IT, Tech & Software company in France was number one on the list.

A dozen Canadian companies are on the list, including Cogeco.

Swedish company Sandvik, which last year purchased Norgalv and its galvanizing plant in North Bay, is also on the list.
