The official logo for the upcoming 100th Anniversary of our city has been unveiled.
A collaboration with Canadore College, officials say the logo represents 100 years of North Bay history, culture and community spirit.
“This logo is a wonderful representation of our City’s journey over the past century,” said Mayor Peter Chirico. “Partnering with Canadore College for the design truly reflects the spirit of our celebrations, which aim to bring the entire community together. We thank all the students who submitted designs and give special thanks to Maryon McCann for her outstanding work.”
The logo integrates the number 100 with iconic images including the Chief Commanda II, the Gateway Arch, the 503 Locomotive, and the CF100 Canuck displayed at Lee Park.
Officials say these elements, representing land, water, and air, pay homage to North Bay’s transportation legacy and its role as ‘the Gateway of the North’.
“At Canadore College, we are dedicated to providing experiential learning opportunities for our students. Our involvement in this project included drafting and pitching the design elements and working closely with the client to achieve the final design,” said Nicole Graham, Professor/Coordinator, Canadore College School of Art and Design. “Congratulations to Maryon for all of her hard work.”
The Centennial Committee’s marketing and promotions subcommittee approached Canadore College to develop logo designs, engaging second-year Graphic Design students in valuable hands-on experience. Ultimately, student Maryon McCann’s design was selected.
“I wanted to create something that not only celebrates North Bay’s rich history but also looks ahead to its bright future. I hope it resonates with everyone who sees it,” said Maryon McCann.
The city says starting this summer, the logo will be incorporated into all centennial-related events and materials. It will also be utilized by the City, participating groups, and organizations to promote Centennial activities and will be featured on Centennial merchandise.
Throughout 2025, the City’s Centennial Celebrations will include a series of events and activities aimed at engaging the community and showcasing North Bay’s heritage and growth. Details of these events will be announced in the coming months.
