The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says recent snow and warm temperatures have compacted the snowpack.
Officials say snow depth decreased by 1.1 cm and snow water equivalence increased by 34 mm since February 14.
Both figures are still in the normal range for this time of year.
“Average snow depth is 48.8 cm (normal), and average snow water equivalence is 137.7 mm (normal) for all sites,” says Angela Mills, NBMCA Water Resources Specialist. “In 2024, the average snow depth for the three sites was 17.2 cm and snow water equivalence was 61.0 mm.”
As part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning Program, the conservation authority measures snow depth and water content in North Bay, Corbeil and Chisholm.
