The federal Conservatives in Nipissing-Timiskaming will select their new candidate this Saturday.
Three people are vying for the nomination, including Jordy Carr, Garry Keller and Steven Trahan.
Carr is the deputy mayor of Callander, a local business owner and ran for the party in the 2019 election.
Keller, a Powassan property owner, has experience working in senior roles within the party including as chief of staff for a couple of former Conservative cabinet ministers.
Trahan, a city police officer and East Ferris councillor, secured the party’s nomination in the last federal election.
Voting in Saturday’s nomination contest takes place from 2-5 pm at the Canadore College G Wing Theatre.
“Canadians cannot afford four more years of the Trudeau/Carney Liberal government,” says Gordan Rennie, President of the Nipissing-Timiskaming Conservative Association. “Mark Carney was the architect of Trudeau’s disastrous high inflation policies and has kept 85% of Trudeau’s cabinet. It’s just a new name on the same bus.”
Rennie is encouraging local party members to come out Saturday and select their new candidate, noting a general election call could come as early as Sunday.
Cassidy Villeneuve resigned as the candidate earlier this month.
