Kev’s Kids radio marathon for Rotary4Kids back next week

Country 90.5 FM morning show host Kevin Oschefski is banking his z’s right now.

That’s because in a week from now he’ll be broadcasting for 29 straight hours, raising funds for Rotary4Kids in support of area children and youth with special needs.

“We’re back at it again,” says Oschefski. “This is my 15th year doing the radiothon for Redpath Rotary4Kids. Though I don’t know the exact total, I know we’re well over a million dollars raised in that 15 years.”

Funds raised during the Kev’s Kids broadcast go towards the purchase of assistive devices, programming, uninsured medical costs and more.

He says 17-year-old Dylan, a Grade 11 student at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (SJSH) Catholic Secondary School is their first-ever repeat Rotary4Kids ambassador.

“He doesn’t even remember being ambassador when he was young,” says Oschefski. “He’s a great choice. He’s a model student at SJSH and he’s actually done a lot within his school to advocate for his peers who have special needs, including things like accessible parking.”

The broadcast starts in the early morning hours of March 27 and wraps up the next day at 10 am.

Events include a community pancake breakfast from 6-9 am on March 27 at One Kids Place.  The entry cost is a donation at door.

The wrap-up breakfast, hosted by Cecil’s Brewhouse & Kitchen takes place in the YMCA foyer from 7-10 am on March 28.

Donations are already being accepted online and can be made by phone or at the radio station (122 Main Street East) during next week’s broadcast (March 27-28).
