We’re only hours away from the start of Kev’s Kids Redpath Rotary4Kids radiothon.

Country 90.5 FM morning host Kevin Oschefski is broadcasting for 29 straight hours starting early Thursday morning, raising funds in support of Rotary4Kids.

“Ultimately it’s children with special needs,” he says. “That encompasses everything from a child a needs a wheelchair ramp or a lift, or they need a communication device.  I’ve heard stories of children needing vision therapy which comes in the thousands of dollars.  Sometimes it’s just to cover expenses to get back and forth to CHEO.”

Rotary4Kids ambassador Dylan joined Mayor Peter Chirico and several dignitaries to raise the Rotary flag at North Bay City Hall Wednesday morning, in support of the radio marathon.

Chirico also proclaimed March 26 as Redpath Rotary4Kids Day in the city.

Along with accepting donations online and at the radio station during the broadcast, Oschefski says they’ll be blitzing the community, too.

“We’ve also got some school visits.  There’s a bunch of schools doing dance-a-thons, teacher-student basketball games and all that,” he says. “Hopefully the whole community will come together, and we’ll raise a whole bunch of money so we can help a lot of kids.”

You can join him at a community pancake breakfast is taking place from 6-9 am Thursday at One Kids Place with donations being accepted at the door), for dinner Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Burger World on Algonquin, and at the wrap-up breakfast on Friday morning at the North Bay YMCA, courtesy of Cecil’s Brewhouse & Kitchen (donation at the door).
