Provincial honours for local principal

Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School is home to the Catholic Principal’s Council of Ontario’s (CPCO) principal of the year.

Dan Seguin has been named this year’s award winner.

Officials say the award is presented annually to principals and vice-principals for their outstanding school and community leadership.

“I am humbly grateful and honoured to have been bestowed this award by the CPCO,” says Seguin.  “I extend my sincere appreciation, as well, to my principal and vice-principal counterparts who nominated me for this honour. I have always believed that education is about drawing the best out of our students, and out of ourselves, and I am deeply thankful for the educators, principals, vice-principals, and senior team at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board for collaborating with me towards this goal.”

Seguin has been part of the school board for over 30 years, serving through a variety of roles.

“Dan truly exemplifies what it means to be a Catholic educator and leader. Anyone who has the gift of knowing Dan can attest to the fact that he exudes positivity and optimism,” says Paula Mann, NPSC Director of Education. “Dan is passionate about the staff, students, and families he serves, and always does what it takes to support and celebrate them, exemplifying true servant leadership.”

Seguin will receive the award in late April.
