Kowal wins major Voodoos awards

The Powassan Voodoos handed out their annual hardware on Friday. 

Forward Cayden Kowal won Most Valuable Player and playoff MVP honours. 

The former North Bay Trapper scored five goals and two assists in four playoff games for the Voodoos.

During the regular season he tied for the lead in points and led the team in goal-scoring with 22 goals and 20 assists in 37 games.

Blueliner Sam Rivet won rookie of the year while captain Jackson Smith was top overager.

  • Nate McDonald Most Improved Player – Anthony Boyes
  • Alex Little top defenseman award – Marcus Krats
  • Eric Nagy top Overager award – Jackson Smith
  • Tomas Yachmenev sportsmanship – Dawson Coleman
  • Jim Bruce Education Award – Justin Rousseau
  • Harrison Israels Top Rookie Award – Sam Rivet
