Annual funding to support transit in North Bay

North Bay is getting $785,000 in provincial gas tax money to support transit this year.

It’s the same amount as last year.

Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP, says the funding can be used to expand service hours, increase routes, purchase new vehicles, and improve accessibility to increase transit ridership.

“This funding is great news for people in North Bay,” says Fedeli. “Under the leadership of Premier Ford, we are investing in local transit to give people in North Bay more ways to connect with work, school, and the people and places that matter most to them.”

The city welcomes the money.

“We thank the Ontario Government and MPP Fedeli for their continued support of public transit in North Bay,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “The ongoing investment through the Gas Tax Program allows us to continue making public transit a reliable and accessible option for our residents.”

Across Ontario, over $380 million is going to 106 municipalities to improve local transit through the Gas Tax program.
