Police say aggressive dog shot and euthanized after attacking people

City police say an aggressive dog that was attacking people on Saturday has been euthanized by a local vet, after it was shot by officers.

The North Bay Police Service says officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 200 block of Main Street East, on April 19th around 12:30 pm.

Police say when they arrived, a large aggressive dog was attacking people in an apartment. They say one of the residents got control of the dog and brought it outside, but it escaped and began attacking officers, who pepper sprayed the dog.

The pepper spray had little effect, according to police, with the dog then attacking another person before it was shot and later euthanized.

One person was transported to hospital by ambulance as a result of injuries suffered from the dog bite and later released.
