There’s no shortage of issues from the campaign trail that Pauline Rochefort will look to bring to Ottawa’s attention when she officially becomes our Member of Parliament.

The Liberal candidate in Nipissing-Timiskaming has an over 1,100 vote lead with one poll still left to be counted.

She says people, businesses and municipalities offered up plenty of needs at the doors she knocked on.

“Certainly, in our riding it will be housing, and cost-of-living is top of mind,” Rochefort says. “But maintaining our social contract with our seniors was a major issue. ‘We built this country’ was often a comment I heard with many seniors so making sure we protect that social contract.”

With businesses, she says it’s everything to grow the economy.

“When we met with municipalities it was all about climate change, the impact on their infrastructure and how do we address that,” says Rochefort.

The Liberals and Prime Minister Mark Carney have a minority government, after winning 168 seats, at last check.

Next with 144 seats, the Conservatives are the official opposition.
