August 20th will officially be Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip Day in the City of North Bay.
Mayor Al McDonald made the announcement this morning at Memorial Gardens, the venue that will be showing the Hip’s last concert on the big screens Saturday night.
McDonald says the impact that the Tragically Hip have had on music in Canada is one of the reasons they felt it was so important to have an event like this. McDonald also added that events like these wouldn’t be possible without community partners.
The screening of the Hip concert at the Gardens is free to the public, and doors will open at 5:00PM on Saturday.
On top of the announcement, Investors Group North Bay also donated a cheque for $5,000 to Laurentian Ski Hill, one of the event’s sponsors.
