Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE) approved a balanced budget of $48,168,752 for the 2017-2018 school year at its regular meeting on June 16th. CSPNE Trustees approved a balanced budget plan designed to meet the needs of its students which includes: additional spending on personnel to meet ongoing CSPNE’s continued growth, updated methods for delivering Special Education services to better meet the needs of its students and adjustments in accordance with provincial collective agreements.
Also earmarked is financial support for the Centres d’apprentissage du Nord-Est de l’Ontario in the communities they serve as well as planning and implementation of the International Baccalaureate programs at École publique Odyssée in North Bay and École publique Renaissance in Timmins. They will continue focus on the integration of technology within the classrooms and the implementation of CSPNE’s new strategic plan for 2017-2021. According to CSPNE Chairperson Denis Labelle, the proposed and approved budget reflects the Board’s efficient and transparent management. Labelle says the Board’s budget process is rigorous and focused on the well-being, development and success of its students and staff.
