Canadore College continues to grow after more than 50 years of student success

Classes begin today at Canadore College.

Canadore College says it is expecting a banner year for student enrolment, with confirmations up more than 10 per cent.

This September, the college will achieve substantial enrolment growth in all student categories: Indigenous, traditional, international and partnership.

“For the past eight years, Canadore has managed to buck the enrolment trend in Ontario,” said Shawn Chorney, vice-president of enrolment management, Indigenous and student services. “This year, we are one of five colleges leading enrolment growth, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at the college.”

Students began early move-in last week to take part in a myriad of sold-out student experience programming, including international student orientation, Summer Transition and the highly-successful WE Leadership.

This past weekend marked student move-in days at Canadore’s three residence complexes, which are at full capacity. Frosh, orientation sessions that address being a good neighbour, sexual consent awareness, and other inclusion activities kicked off the Labour Day weekend.

“Canadore takes great pride in being a part of a community that recognizes the value the college and its students bring to the area,” said Chorney. “Our students are always excited to learn how they can further integrate into the community as well, conducting volunteer work and working with employers to fill gaps or grow their business capacity.”

Canadore College welcomes an influx of students from nearly 400 Canadian communities and more than 15 international countries to its campuses. Each year, Canadore College students contribute more than $13 million in direct spending to the local economy.
