North Bay Police Service is investigating after receiving multiple reports of sewing needles embedded in Halloween candy.
The tainted candy is thought to have been collected in the Ferguson Street area, a popular route for trick-or-treaters going to, or returning from, the Halloween festivities at the fire station.
Social media lit up last night after a mother posted about opening a suspect looking Coffee Crisp chocolate bar. When Sara Donaghey inspected her two-year-old son’s Halloween loot closer, she discovered a perforation in the wrapper and then, the needle sticking out the end of the chocolate bar.
Police advise parents and guardians to take a second look at last night’s bounty and make certain nothing has been tampered with.
Inspect the wrappers and if it looks unusual, has a tear or is discoloured be safe and dispose of it.
If you find something that has been tampered with, contact NBPS.
