Cliche back on police board

The North Bay Police Services Board has one of its former members back.

Pat Cliche, who is heavily involved with Drug Strategy North Bay and Area, has been named the provincial appointee to the board and replaces former vice chair Bill Hagborg.

Cliche first became a board member in the 1990s when former Police Chief George Berrigan led the department.

She stayed for two terms.

Cliche says she’s looking forward to her renewed stay on the board and hopes she can make a difference thanks to her nursing background and more recent experience with the opioid crisis.

Cliche admits it’s been a long time between terms and expects to go through a learning curve.

She says coming into contact with Detective Constable Brad Reaume several years ago in connection with the opioid crisis has been a big help.

“He got me invested in that field,” Cliche said who is a retired nurse but still maintains her nursing license.

“He’s been a great teacher and I’m hoping with all that knowledge he’s brought to me, I’m hoping I can bring some of that to the police board.”

Cliche says serving as a police board member will not affect her work on the drug strategy committee.

As for how she ended up on the board again, Cliche says it was thanks to Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli.

Cliche says Fedeli asked her if she would be interested in sitting on a board through a provincial appointment.

She says a board position with the College of Physicians came up but admits she wasn’t that interested.

She told Fedeli she’d be interested in going back on the police board and that’s where she landed.
