The annual tradition of filling a fire truck with non-perishable food was a huge success according to the North Bay Fire Department.
This year’s event took place outside of Parkers Your Independent Grocer throughout the day on Wednesday. The fire department received 2,070 pounds of food and $3,215.50 worth of cash donations which will be going toward the North Bay Food Bank.
Last year’s Fill a Fire Truck event collected 1442 pounds of non-perishable food, along with $1815.85 in monetary donations and $240 in gift cards.
Chris Nichol, Fire Prevention Officer said the generosity of our community is tremendous.
“North Bay Fire & Emergency Services looks forward each year to this annual event to help such a worthwhile cause while promoting Fire Prevention Week,” he said
The theme of Fire Prevention Week is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen” as cooking is the leading cause of house fires.
