Kevin Oschefski joins Moose FM

Longtime local radio host Kevin Oschefski is joining 106.3 Moose FM’s team.

Oschefski will be taking over the afternoon show from 3 to 6 pm on weekdays beginning February 24.

“I know the Moose and Vista are a company that is committed to being local and having local people who live in the area on the radio,” Oschefski said. “I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Oschefski joins the Moose team after spending 24 years as a host with Rogers’ radio stations in North Bay.

“I had 24 amazing years in that building,” he recalled. “What I love about radio is being one with the community so when that sort of went on the backburner over there, I realized I needed a change for myself.”

Oschefski grew up in Orillia, Ontario and attended Canadore College’s radio program. His first job in radio was at a station in his hometown before taking a job in North Bay a year later.

In short order, Oschefski found himself as an on-air mainstay in North Bay.

“Radio is something I still really love. I think there’s still a place for it. I think if anything this last year, we’ve learned that radio needs to be there,” Oschefski said. “I think with COVID, the companionship I think it provides, especially for those who are at home and alone.”

Peter Hobbs, General Manager of Moose FM says Oschefski is the perfect person to continue carrying out his station’s goal of being “excruciatingly local”.

“We’re super excited to have Kevin join our team,” said Hobbs. “He’s a veteran in this industry and a valuable member of our community. He knows the importance of being local… and that’s what we’re all about.”

Oschefski says he’s looking forward to talking with listeners old and new as he begins the next chapter of his career.
