Clean Green Beautiful issues neighbourhood challenge

Clean Green Beautiful (CGB) North Bay is looking for clean and green neighbourhoods.

Hariett Madigan, CGB North Bay Chair, says their clean-up challenge was a success and they will continue to deliver bags for litter pickups right through to the fall.

“It’s just amazing how great the city looks right now and that’s the result of the delivery of 7,000 bags and people out there picking up (litter) on a regular basis,” she says.

Their second neighbourhood challenge is focused on making North Bay greener and even more beautiful.

“We put a challenge out to neighbours to have bragging rights and talk about the things they’re doing in their homes and neighbourhoods,” she says. “Did you do something green and beautiful in your yard? Maybe you planted a tree, maybe you started a garden.”

Madigan says people are creating their own oasis because of the pandemic.

“You might call that a gift of COVID, getting to know your neighbours and doing something beautiful in your own yard.  Someone pointed this out to me, creating a nest in your neighbourhood, in your own yard where you feel at peace,” she says.

Residents are asked to take a photo and post it on the Clean Green Beautiful Facebook group.

Everyone will have their name entered in a draw for a $100 certificate from a local garden centre.
