Wharf operator being reimbursed for costs incurred after dock damaged

A reimbursement agreement has been reached between the city and one of the operators on the King’s Landing Wharf.

Councillor Johanne Brousseau, Chair of the Community Services Committee, says damage to the dock from ice build-up during the spring is impacting the Chief Commanda II.

“Vehicles who service this ship cannot use the wharf until the repairs to the dock are finished, alternative service methods are being used for septic, refuelling and accessibility services,” she says.

Council approved the dock repairs in late June, awarding the contract to a local company.

The reimbursement agreement was approved after an in-camera session of Council last week.

“It’s up to $25,000 to reimburse the Chief Commanda for extra costs they will incur as part of their inability to use King’s Landing due to the damage caused by the ice earlier this year,” says Gord Young, Communications Officer with the City of North Bay.

A city staff report says the repairs will return King’s Landing to its pre-damaged state.
