City of North Bay developing vaccination policy

There are still a lot of unknowns but the City of North Bay confirms they’re developing a vaccination policy.

That from Gord Young, Communications Officer.

“We haven’t yet determined exactly what it will look like and whether or not vaccines will be mandated. Our Human Resources Department is doing the work. They’re consulting with other municipalities, public health officials and our legal team on what measures may be included,” he says.

There’s no word yet if the policy will apply to the public too.

“That’s something HR is looking at whether we will be looking at restrictions. Currently, they’re just looking at our employees, but will have to make those considerations on what will be required for the public as well,” Young says.

MyNorthBayNow.com reached out to the City of North Bay after other municipalities moved to mandate vaccinations for their employees.

The City of Mississauga issued a release on Thursday stating municipal employees and volunteers there have until October 31, 2021 to be fully vaccinated.

“Employees and volunteers who do not provide proof of vaccination by the deadline will be subject to routine COVID-19 testing before entering the workplace,” states the release from the City of Mississauga. “Employees and volunteers with valid claims for accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code will be accommodated.”
