Being prepared for an emergency is the focus of a planned exercise in North Bay.
The city is taking part in a simulated hazardous material release involving rail cars in the Ottawa Valley Railway yard off Oak Street on Tuesday, September 28th.
The exercise takes place from 8 am to 3 pm and will allow for emergency services, along with municipal and government agencies, to assess and adjust the response and intervention plans with these types of incidents.
Planning for the simulation has been ongoing for several months involving North Bay Fire and Emergency Services, the Ottawa Fire Department, the North Bay Police Service, North Bay EMS and the Ottawa Valley Railway.
The city says a corresponding exercise of the Emergency Operations Centre will be taking place as well.
