Long-term care homes in Nipissing are receiving over $2.2 million from the province.
The money will be used to increase staffing levels.
Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP, says that will lead to more direct care for residents.
“This funding will allow homes in our community to hire and retain more staff so they can provide more care to residents, every day,” says Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “This is part of our government’s plan to hire thousands of new staff over the next four years to ensure those living in long-term care get the high-quality care they need and deserve.”
Funding allotments to increase staffing this year include:
- $845,915 for Cassellholme in North Bay
- $455,957 for Eastholme in Powassan
- $363,338 for Waters Edge in North Bay
- $313,471 for Nipissing Manor in Corbeil
- $260,033 for Algonquin Nursing Home in Mattawa
The local funding is part of the province’s $270 million commitment to ensure long-term care residents receive – on average – four hours of direct care per day by 2024-25.
Legislation will also be brought forward to enshrine the commitment of four hours of care into law.
