The province is investing $5 million into the expansion of 11 area businesses.
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) money on Friday.
“Through the NOHFC’s Invest North Program, our government is providing targeted investments to local businesses to support productivity, innovation, business competitiveness, job creation, and retention,” says Fedeli.
Over $2.1 million goes to Industrial Plastics Canada to establish a production facility in North Bay.
Another million dollars is going to Nordic Minesteel Technologies to build a new manufacturing facility, and purchase equipment to increase production capacity.
Ronald Elliot, President and Chief Executive Officer at Nordic Minesteel Technologies Inc., says from assisting with new product development to the most recent expansion of their facilities, the support received from NOHFC helps them remain competitive and able to sell their equipment around the world from North Bay.
“Since I started the company in 1993, we have expanded our facilities in North Bay four times.” says Elliot. “Creating more jobs for both skilled trades and professionals in our area, and NOHFC has been there to support us along the way. We could not have had the success we have without the support of our dedicated employees and partners like NOHFC.”
All told, Fedeli says the 11 businesses are investing $28 million dollars into the area through the projects.
