With the holidays just around the corner the OPP is reminding motorists the Festive RIDE campaign is officially underway.
The OPP says it launched Thursday and lasts until New Year’s Day.
Officials say it’s one of their most important traffic safety initiatives, and aims to keep Ontario’s roads safe from impaired drivers during the holiday season.
An increased OPP presence is expected as officers will be conducting frequent RIDE checks throughout the province, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Last year’s campaign saw nearly 1,500 impaired driving charges laid across the province.
