Five people will be given an “Unsung Hero Service Award” from the Rotary Club of North Bay on Monday.
The five, who were nominated by the community, are being recognized for addressing needs in our community through dedication and care.
Officials say they exemplify Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”.
Recipients include Peggy Morrison for her long-standing work and leadership with Open Arms Café, Leo Deloyde for his volunteerism with the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, Mark and Leslie Lyons for their commitment to supporting children with autism spectrum disorder and their families, as well as Bryan Eade, who is being honoured posthumously for his advocacy for the marginalized and the homeless.
The five will be recognized as Paul Harris Fellows, the highest recognition a Rotary Club can present.
Monday’s event is taking place at the Grand Event Centre in North Bay at 5 pm.
