A special weather statement is in effect for the North Bay area.
Environment Canada says upwards of 15 to 25 mm or rain is expected Tuesday night through Wednesday, combined with mild temperatures and melting snow.
The weather agency also says with a risk of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening, local rainfall amounts could exceed 25 mm.
Officials add the frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb the rainfall.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas and water pooling on roads is possible.
