The province’s police watchdog has wrapped its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 42-year-old man in North Bay in January.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was called in after the man was taken from the North Bay Jail to the courthouse cell block and suffered a medical incident later the same day.
He was then taken to hospital and pronounced deceased.
After assessing the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino says there were no reasonable grounds to believe the officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s death.
The investigation is now closed.
