Military holding training exercise in the area this weekend

You may see an increase in military personnel, traffic and planes in the area this weekend.

From April 25-27, Canadian Army Reserve personnel from the 32 Canadian Brigade Group are conducting convoy and supply operations training on roads and highways between Toronto, North Bay and Burwash.

As a part of the exercise, the Air Force is also conducting air movements in the North Bay area involving a CC-130J Hercules and CC-138 Twin Otter.

About 100 Department of National Defence vehicles are involved with Exercise Trillium Venture and will be used on various roads and highways including 11, 69 and 400.

Participating soldiers will not carry any weapons or ammunition.

Officials say the training exercise ensures their readiness to respond to emergencies, such as flooding and wildfires.

They say all measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to public with people asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles.
