Smile Cookies are back

The North Bay and District Humane Society is benefiting from the sale of Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookies in the city this week.

The chocolate chunk cookies topped with pink and blue icing are available through Sunday, May 4.

100% of the proceeds are supporting more than 600 local charities and organizations across Canada.

In North Bay, money raised is helping pay for housing, veterinary care, food, medicine, vaccines and more for the nearly one thousand companion animals who pass through the Humane Society’s doors every year.

“Animal shelters across the country are full, as are we,” says Liam Cullin, Executive Director for the Humane Society. “Tim’s Smile Cookies help us offer veterinary care and medicine for thousands of vulnerable animals looking for their forever homes. We couldn’t do that without the support of our local Tim Hortons stores.”

He says it’s a huge program for them.

“Last year we raised more than $81,000 to help the animals in care at the humane society,” says Cullin. “We’re hoping to match that number this year.”

Smile Cookies are also available for order online at www.nbdhs.ca/smilecookies.

Around the area, cookie sales at various Tim Hortons are supporting Community Living West Nipissing and Mattawa, Nipissing First Nation Health and Wellness, and Evergreen Heights Education Centre in Burk’s Falls.
