The Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police responded to an incident at a residence on Park Street this morning, after a man barricaded himself inside and refused to surrender to police.
The area was secured and neighbours were evacuated, in order to ensure the public’s safety.
The OPP Emergency Response Team, Crime Unit, Negotiators and Canine Unit all responded in attempts to get the man to come out peacefully.
The man finally surrendered himself to police after some negotiations, and was taken into custody without further incident.
