North Bay Hydro using Trout Lake Transmission Station following Monday outage

When North Bay’s downtown and surrounding area lost power Monday afternoon, North Bay Hydro said it was the result of a loss of supply.

Hydro One supplies that power to North Bay Hydro.

Neil Russell, the local utility’s Customer Solutions Advisor, says as of Tuesday, it still hadn’t heard from Hydro One on what caused the loss in power.

However, Russell says when the utility learned the outage could last a while it rerouted the system and began drawing power for the affected area using its Trout Lake Transmission Station.

Russell says doing this reduced inconveniencing affected people.

It was still using the TLTS as of Tuesday.

Russell says the plan is to switch the power back to the North Bay Transmission Station Wednesday around 6:00am.

He adds the switchback will be seamless and there will be no loss in power.

Monday’s outage affected 3,820 customers.
