Anthony Rota has been re-elected as Member of Parliament for the Nipissing-Timiskaming riding.
“It is an honour to have the people of Nipissing-Timiskaming re-elect me for another term to represent them in Ottawa,” Rota said shortly at the end of the election.
Rota came in ahead of Jordy Carr with the Conservatives, Rob Boulet of the NDP, Alex Gomm with the Green Party and Mark King of the PPC.
Rota says that there is a lot to get to work on, “The things I have heard most from people, and the things I agree on are the environment. We have to fight climate change. We have to work on the economy so that people who have jobs can raise their family and also so that people who retire, can now retire with dignity.”
Four of five party leaders have won their home ridings. The only leader not to win a seat in Parliament is the People’s Party leader Maxime Bernier.
“We have a strong minority government,” Rota said when asked about the difficulties of having a minority government over a majority. “The important thing is we work with other parties, and it brings changes for the positive. I look forward to working with other members of parliament so that we can do what is best for Canadians.”
Anthony Rota has now won five of the six elections for the Nipissing-Timiskaming riding.
