NBPS Street Crime Unit seizes purple fentanyl, cash and a car

An investigation by the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime Unit has led to the seizure of $21,340 in suspected drugs, $14,192 in Canadian currency, and a 2005 Ford car.

On Friday night, the Street Crime Unit stopped a vehicle as part of an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs in North Bay. Shortly before 11:00 p.m., police say a traffic stop was conducted in the area of Front Street.

A search of the vehicle revealed:

  • Approximately 113 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Approximately 16 grams of suspected Purple Fentanyl

Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

The first, a 25-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with:

  • Two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine and Fentanyl)
  • One count of Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime
  • One count of Fail to Comply with a Release Order

The second, a 65-year-old female from Sundridge has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine and Fentanyl)
  • One count of Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime

Both accused remain in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
