The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (NBPSDHU) has no active cases of COVID-19.
Stephanie Lachapelle, Community Health Promoter for the Health Unit, says that the public should not become complacent and that it is more important than ever to follow the public health guidelines.
“The ongoing low number of positive cases in the district is a good indication that people are continuing to use proper health precautions such as physical distancing, hand washing and wearing a face covering when physical distancing is a challenge,” she said.
“With stage 3 beginning on Friday in our district and more business and public places opening, it is even more important that we follow these precautions and remember that most people with COVID-19 have no symptoms or mild symptoms. People who are mildly ill should isolate and care for themselves at home.” said Lachapelle.
The Health Unit has recorded 37 total cases of the novel coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic in March. One person has died while the other 36 cases were resolved. The region has also administered over 17,000 tests.
The NBPSDHU will join 23 other health units entering Stage 3 on Friday.
