North Bay City Hall will be lit up in orange on July 1st in support of the victims and families of the residential school system in Canada.
The city says it’s also being done out of respect for all Indigenous communities and Canadians grieving following recent discoveries in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
The city also says they recognize that Canada Day holds a different meaning for everyone and it’s not a day of celebration for all.
They’re encouraging everyone to learn more about all aspects of our country’s history and its relationship with Indigenous peoples.
