Local groups to ‘Light It Up’ purple and blue

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and a nationwide ‘Light It Up’ initiative is taking place locally, too.

Officials with the North Bay office of the March of Dimes Canada say communities across the country are creating awareness by lighting it up purple and blue on Oct. 19.

They say that includes their office, City Hall, Canadore College, the Salvation Army and several other groups and businesses.

The March of Dimes says the North Bay office has been in place for over 25 years specializing in offering employment services to anyone with a disability or employment barrier of any kind.

Earlier this month, the province announced that several government buildings will also be lit in blue and purple to promote National Disability Employment Awareness Month and highlight inclusive employment.
