A new cloud-based command and control (CBC2) software integrator was recently demonstrated for top Canadian and American military officials at 22 Wing/CFB North Bay. The military says this will bolster the Canadian Armed Forces’ and NORAD’s ability to protect Canadians against new and emerging threats to North America.

Officials say CBC2 uses data feeds, artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop courses of action to help leaders make higher quality and faster decisions that improve operational outcomes.

“This technological development will provide our operators with the latest tools to efficiently maintain detailed situational awareness of the battlespace and contribute to improving NORAD’s rapid response to potential threats,” says Major-General Iain Huddleston, Commander of the 1 Canadian Air Division. “It’s a technological leap we are all excited to see come online.”

“This continued investment in the CADS and introduction of CBC2 serves as a strong testament to the ongoing commitment to 22 Wing North Bay,” says Colonel Richard Jolette, Commander 22 Wing North Bay / Canadian Air Defence Sector.

The program falls under Canada’s $38.6 billion plan to modernize NORAD over twenty years.
