Two active wildland fires in the region

There have been five wildland fires in the North Bay District so far this season.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports two of the fires are active.

North Bay 05 is 164 hectares in size and is located 3 kilometres southeast of Cobalt near the east shore of Kerr Lake.

The ministry says a team of ground crews and aerial fire suppression aircraft from Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services are battling the fire, which is not under control.

North Bay 04, near Highway 63 (about 1 km northeast of Jocko Rivers Provincial Park), is now 0.8 hectares and is being held.
